An easy way to remove SMD IC's from a PCB  is to use a piece of shaving blade.(inox)
As the blades are made from inox, they cannot be tinned soldered which is our goal.
Wear protective glasses while preparing your
little IC remover
First, cut the blade in two parts along the dotted red axis.
Secondly, using cutting pliers, cut the remaining part along the blue dotted axis.
Using sand paper, soften the sharp edge of the blade so that the blade is less cutting.
Soften also the other edges with the sand paper.
The blade tickness is still to thick so using sand paper again, gradually reduce one blade end tickness.
It does not take too much time to reduce the tickness down to about 0.3 mm which is necessary to introduce our "tool" under TSOP's or 8 pins IC's
The other intact end can be used to remove ordinary SMD IC's.
Here below you have a picture showing "THE tool" and how to use it.
With a soldering iron in one hand, heat up the pin to be desoldered
while shifting the blade between the pin and the PCB.
This will desolder the PIN.
Do it fo all pins.
That method is somewhat more difficult to use than using a hot gun,
but you will be sure not to overheat the surrounding components.
There is another similar method using an inox wire.
You have to introduce the wire under the IC, fix one end somewhere
around the IC and pull the other end while heating up the pin's.
This will also desolder each pin.
It's sometimes difficult to reheat the original SMT solder, so just
re-wet the solder pads with normal solder.
It will make it easier to desolder each pin.
After having removed the IC, use solder wick to clean up each pad.
